The District would like to provide residents with an update regarding ongoing maintenance to the lake aeration system at Barefoot Lakes.

 

During recent inspections, it was identified that multiple aerators, and one aeration pump are currently not operating properly. Further investigation determined that portions of the underground sleeving protecting the aeration air lines were originally installed using 90-degree fittings. These sharp turns have caused the airlines to become pinched or restricted, reducing airflow to several aerators.

 

Environmental Designs, Inc. (EDI) is currently working to correct the issue by excavating the affected locations and replacing the existing 90-degree fittings with 45-degree fittings. This will provide a smoother transition through the sleeving and help prevent the air lines from becoming pinched in the future.

 

In addition, Solitude Lake Management will be onsite to trace and inspect the aeration lines throughout the lake system. This work will help identify any additional connection issues, damaged lines, or other restrictions that may affect aerator performance.

 

The District is actively working with both contractors to restore the aeration system to full operation as quickly as possible. Lake aeration is an important component of maintaining healthy dissolved oxygen levels and overall water quality, particularly during periods of high temperatures and lower water levels.
