Design Review
Please note, the landscape application process may take up to 60 days from the time that an application is initially submitted to the time that approval is received. This time can be reduced by providing plans that meet District requirements on the initial submission. Please make use of the Initial Rear Yard Landscape Checklist below to confirm that all requirements for plantings or additional information have been included with your plan. Complete landscape design review applications submitted by the first and third Wednesday of the month will be submitted for review by the Design Review Committee on the first and third Friday of the month.

Application to use District property for access to your rear or side yard in order to complete landscaping or other improvements should be made ahead of time with written request and approval. Please include this request on your landscaping application or complete a new application if your landscaping has already been approved. Please include pictures of the exact area that will be used for access and a picture of the section of fence that will be taken down.
Once your application has been approved, or if damage to District property or landscaping is discovered a deposit invoice in the amount of $1,200 will be placed on your account.
The District will use funds from the deposit amount to restore the landscaping and any damage. A copy of the invoice for restoration will be provided and the balance of the deposit will be refunded to your account.
Please contact District management at updates@svlmd-barefootlakes.com with any questions.
From the Residential Improvement Guidelines and Site Restriction for Barefoot Lakes
3.92 Work Involving District Property
Approval is required. Owners shall be responsible for any damage caused by them to District property. Generally, driving vehicles, including wheelbarrows, across District property is not permitted. However, when circumstances warrant, the ARC will consider requests provided that prior approval is requested, and the Owner advances funds as may be reasonably required by the Board of Directors to repair any damage. The District will do the actual restoration of the District property.
Pursuant to the Residential Improvement Guidelines and Site Restrictions all fences within Barefoot must be treated with one of the two approved Preservative Treatments listed below. In lieu of a stain that can be difficult to match across multiple phases and builders, and that must be applied regularly, fences should be sealed with an approved Preservative Treatment. This clear treatment contains no dye or coloring; it causes the lignin in the wood to form a natural, rustic-weathered patina that enhances the life of the wood and does not need to be reapplied. You can find out more details about District fencing guidelines and Owner responsibilities in the Residential Improvement Guidelines and Site Restriction and Homeowner Landscape Guidelines found at http://svlmd-barefootlakes.com/design-review/
