The District recently completed re-seeding in two native landscape areas within the community:

• Waterside Park
• The native area near the Cove along Lake Terrace

Residents may notice these areas look sparse or unfinished over the coming weeks. This is a normal part of establishing native grass. Unlike sod or traditional turf, native seed requires time to germinate, develop roots, and become fully established.

What to Expect

After seeding, we will monitor and maintain the areas to encourage successful establishment. The process generally includes:

• Regular irrigation as needed to maintain adequate soil moisture for germination.
• Monitoring for seed germination and overall establishment.
• Weed management as needed. Some weeds may emerge alongside the new grass and will be addressed as the native stand develops.
• Limited mowing or selective mowing when appropriate to help control weeds without damaging young native grasses.
• Additional spot-seeding may be performed in areas where germination is limited or uneven.

Native areas can take a full growing season or longer to develop the appearance residents are accustomed to seeing in established portions of the community. Initial growth may also be uneven, with some areas establishing more quickly than others.

Please Help Protect the Newly Seeded Areas

Residents are asked to avoid walking, biking, or allowing pets into the newly seeded areas whenever possible. Disturbance during germination can displace seed, compact the soil, and slow the establishment process.

The District and its landscape professionals will continue monitoring both locations and making adjustments as necessary to achieve a healthy and sustainable native landscape.
